When it comes to K-Pop groups, their name is one of their most important identifiers. Unfortunately, these names are not always well-received by fans and netizens, sometimes even resulting in name changes.
According to netizens ‘ reactions, here are some of the “worst” group names from newly debuted groups in 2023.
1. EVNNE/BLIT
Another group of Boys Planet contestants was announced to debut under Jellyfish Entertainment this year under the name BLIT.
This was immediately met with mixed feelings from many, mainly due to the NSFW meaning. The group’s name was changed to EVNNE shortly after, but not all were satisfied with that name either.
2. EL7Z UP
Prior to the finale of Queendom Puzzle, the project group that the show would form was announced to be called EL7Z U+P.
The name was met with confusion on pronunciation, leading Mnet to change it to the less confusing but still confusing EL7Z UP.
3. YOUNG POSSE
While YOUNG POSSE gained plenty of attention for their suggestive debut, their initial announcement also raised eyebrows.
YOUNG POSSE, when said quickly and in certain accents, sounds like Young P*ssy, something very inappropriate for the young group.
4. 3WAY
3WAY have yet to debut, but the group’s starting members and name were announced in advance.
A threeway is a term referring to sex between three individuals, and the phrase “3 Way” also has an established meaning related to lighting.
5. I’LL-IT
I’LL-IT, the group formed by the HYBE survival program, RU NEXT? was called an SEO nightmare after the name announcement.
Many also found the two punctuations to be an eyesore, not adding anything to the name.

6. ZEROBASEONE
The announcement of Boys Planet‘s debut group name was met with disbelief from fans for several reasons.
Ze-Be” sounds like the Korean term for planting crops, something many Korean fans pointed out. It also sounds similar to other words such as “jib-e” (at home), “je-bae” (my stomach), and more. Some fans even pointed out the name could be a slang term related to gay sex.
“ ZEROBASEONE ”… yeah china is gonna have a field day with this one. mnet really just named bep1er after a chinese gay slang
*0 stands for bottom and 1 stands for top, so they basically just named the group top-bottom. no wonder shuaibo and jinxin were cracking up lol
