Since the survival show Girls Planet 999 finished in October 2021, many of the contestants have gone on to pursue careers in the music industry even if they didn’t make it into Kep1er.
One such contestant is Okazaki Momoko. Though she was eliminated in the fifth episode of the show, ranked at J21 in the Japanese group, it sounds like she’s going to have a busy and successful career ahead of her!
Since the departure of one of Japanese kawaii metal group BABYMETAL‘s original members, Yuimetal, in October 2018, the group ended up having a trio of other girls rotating in her place — Kano Fujihira, Riho Sayashi, and Momoko Okazaki herself. They weren’t official members of the group, but were called the “Avengers” of BABYMETAL. The group was on hiatus when she participated on Girls Planet 999 in 2021.
In mid-March, BABYMETAL announced that they would be going on tour for the first time since 2019, and with the announcement came speculation that a third member would once again be joining the group. And on April 1, it was officially confirmed that Momoko Okazaki would become the third member of BABYMETAL, going by the name Momometal!
