At the 2020 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA), BTS performed “Life Goes On”, a song inspired by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The members sang while strolling through a world on pause. The stage set’s white, custom patisserie garnered attention from fans, who are curious about its meaning. The text on the upper windows says “BE”, for BTS’s BE album, and “ARMEE PATISSIER” for ARMY.
The front door features a letter “B” outlined by the shape of an open book, four markings that look like the number “7”, a crown, and French text: “maison fondee en 1730.” This translates to “house founded in 1730.”
As expected, ARMYs went hunting for more information. Is the patisserie based on a real one or imagined? The answer is…yes? When it comes to BTS, nothing is a coincidence!
Last month, Big Hit Entertainment filed for a certified trademark for the logo “Bang & Baker’s” online. The trademark information reveals that the logo was filed with product classifications of grain, pastry, and tea. BTS’s stage set could be dropping hints about this unannounced project.
But what about the date, 1730? Most fans were stumped, unable to find relevant connections, but one Korean netizen might have solved the mystery. They shared this photo of Stohrer, the oldest patisserie in Paris.
According to its official website, the patisserie was founded in 1730 by King Louis XV’s pastry chef, Nicolas Stohrer. Nicolas Stohrer became a pastry chef for the Polish princess Marie Leszczyńska, who moved to Versailles to marry King Louis XV.
