Somi and BLACKPINK may not strictly be label mates, but they’re still close friends! The former is an artist under THE BLACK LABEL, a subsidiary under YG Entertainment. They are among the company’s only female artists so it’s not surprising that they’re so close.

Lisa and Somi played games together, talked, and ate chicken in the fifth episode of I AM SOMI. They were 100% comfortable in each other’s presence, and Lisa even gave Somi advice on her choreography like the main dancer that she is.
2. When Lisa promised Somi to visited her MV set and she kept it!
After reviewing the choreography footage, Lisa promised to visit Somi in her music video shoot for “What You Waiting For”. Somi later revealed through Instagram that she kept her promise! Better yet, Jisoo also came along to support their “younger sister” on the set.

The best kind of support is that of a real friend’s, and what better way to show one’s friendship than through memes? Somi couldn’t help but share one comparing Rosé and Gunhoo from The Return Of Superman through an Instagram story.
4. When BLACKPINK danced to “Birthday”
BLACKPINK was one of the first people to react to Somi’s debut title track “Birthday”. Jisoo and Jennie excitedly danced and lip-synched to the upbeat song.
Somi later commented a heartfelt message of gratitude for their promotion.

BLACKPINK not only posted about Somi’s debut, but also her first comeback a year later with “What You Waiting For”. Each member shared an Instagram story to commemorate the event.

When you say the word “entertainer”, Somi comes to mind. She took BLACKPINK’s “DDU-DU DDU-DU” and successfully turned it into Ariana Grande’s style in one entertainment show.

Somi and her friend CLC‘s Eunbin visited BLACKPINK’s In Your Area Tour in Seoul last 2018. They both came prepared with a lightstick which they proudly showed off online!
8. When Lisa revealed everyone supported Somi for years
In the “Unreleased Bonus Footage” of I AM SOMI, Lisa revealed that she, Jennie, Jisoo, and Rosé supported Somi back in 2015. This was when she participated in her first survival program, Sixteen, under JYP Entertainment.

9. When Somi sang “Kiss and Make Up”
Finally, Somi recently visited ELLE for a round of Song Association. When asked to sing a track about “kiss”, she immediately sang “Kiss and Make Up” by Dua Lipa and BLACKPINK.
